"Summer: Time for Music"

In our territory the months of January and February were dedicated, amongst other things, to Music Camps.

We present the reports from the Camps in the Division of Peru and the Territorial Music Camp 2004, which took part in Chile…. Enjoy!

The last week of January, from the 26th through the 30th exactly, was dedicated to a very special even in the Peru division. After many years without having one, they organized a music camp.

The chosen location was Camp "Shiran" in the north of Trujillo in the center of Peru, a very big and beautiful place.

With almost seventy campers and fifteen leaders and teaches, this event was started the youth were very excited.

We had five days of hard work and blessings for all those involved: Officers, Soldiers of the Peruvian Cops, and especially for the special guests from Chile. Soldiers David Espejo, Daniel Alarcon, Robinson Soto and Cesar Maldonado.

In this Division, the ministry of worship teams in stronger, this is why the classes were, electric base, electric guitar, keyboard, etc; but there were timbrels and brass instruments too, these classes had 10 people but they could show their pieces in the concert of Saturday the 29th.

It was a very beautiful Camp in which the presence of the Lord could be felt thanks to the ministry of Pastor Jorge Ayona whom, together with giving classes of Musical Theology, was the Chaplin of the Camp and the person in charge of delivering the word of God every night in the programs.

There is no doubt that the motto of the Camp "The God Whom We Adore" was fully understood for each one of those who participated, the special guests from Chile, the participants from Ecuador and the Soldiers in Peru, we can all say in one voice the verse of this Camp…

"All the earth bows down to you; they sing praises to you" Psalm 66:4
God bless the Musical Ministry in Peru, God bless The Salvation Army!!

And the time awaited for many musicians of the Western Territory of South America (Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador), finally arrived.
Between February 7th and the 15th, we had the Territorial Music Camp (CTM) in its third version since the music camps were re-stared in 2004.

This year our special guests were Soldiers Jacqui and Kevin Larsson, both from the USA West Territory; and for second year in a row, Captains Barbara and Rick Carroll, from the USA Central territory.

With five bands, two levels of timbrels, a Camp Choir, theory classes for the whole camp and many electives, we could start this event which improves musically, organizationally and orderly every year.

Maybe one of the much-awaited activities was the visit to "fantasilandia", amusement park in which we had a testimonial march and a small concert that, of course, is followed by the fun of using the various rides.

Another activity that brought excitement was the night program of February 14th Valentine's Day, which was celebrated with a dinner, different games, dances, photos and cookies that were given to that "special someone".

More than 127 campers and 31 leaders made this Camp another form of blessing to all those who took part.

May the Lord bless all the musicians throughout this Territory and next year we will inform you about CTM 2005.

In the pictures we can see moments of these Camps. God bless the Musical Ministry in our Territory.
