A Christian Church and Registered Charity
The Salvation Army is well known for its brass bands and the ministry of its bands on street corners, at hospitals, homes and in town centres playing carols at Christmas time.
The Salvation Army in Plymouth is no different. The Whitleigh band, consists of 16 members, made up of Salvationists of all ages. The band take pride in their ministry of music to those who listen to them and pray that God may use them to portray the message of His love.
The band is at present under the leadership of Young People’s Band Leader Mark Searle and rehearsals take place on a Tuesday at 6.30pm
The Songsters is The Salvation Army term for our Senior Choir. The Songster Brigade under the leadership of Songster Leader Christina Taylor has a busy schedule within the corps. The contribution of the Songsters plays an important role in our Sunday services and are in constant demand to visit venues in the area to sing. As a Songster Brigade it is seen as a privilege to be asked to visit other corps, churches and homes to minister in song. Songster practices are held on a Tuesday at 7.45pm
The Singing Company is our Junior Choir for young people aged 7 and up. Karen Avery is the Singing Company leader at Whitleigh and under her leadership the group are also very busy. The Singing Company also play a vital contribution to our Sunday services. Singing Company practices are held on Sundays at 2.30pm
