The purpose of The Salvation Army Westport's Emergency Assistance department is to provide material assistance to low income households, to promote stability and self sufficiency in individuals and families, and to communicate God's purpose for their lives.

We serve the following zip codes:

64109 - 64113
64114 (North of 95th St.)
64131 (North of 95th St.)
64132

   *If you do not live in one of these zip codes please call 2-1-1. This will connect you to the United Way, and they will direct you to your area's service providers.
Up to $250 to prevent Eviction / $150 for Deposit     
  • 2 pieces of ID (Social Security Card and State ID) for yourself
  • Social Security cards for children and picture ID for all adults in household
  • Receipts showing expenses for last 30 days, or for fixed income for current month
  • Proof of income such as check stubbs or award letters
  • (if applicable) Food stamp award letter & unemployment registration
  • Eviction Notice stating past due amount
  • Rental Agreement with rent deposit, & utilities amounts also landlord name, phone & address.
    --Once a year Restriction
Up to $150 for an electricity, water, or gas bill  
    • 2 pieces of ID (Social Security Card and State ID) for yourself
    • Social Security cards for children and picture ID for all adults in household
    • Receipts showing expenses for last 30 days, or for fixed income for current month
    • Proof of income such as check stubbs or award letters
    • (if applicable) Food stamp award letter & unemployment registration
    • Current cutoffnotice or final bill. (ID & name on bill must match)

    Pantry Items and/or Food Vouchers          
    • 2 pieces of ID (Social Security Card and State ID) for yourself
    • Social Security cards for children and picture ID for all adults in household
    • Client must not receive more than $50 worth of Food Stamps.
    • Pending Food Stamp Application but have not received food stamps yet
    • Current cutoffnotice or final bill. (ID & name on bill must match)

    • Assistance for Victums of fires, tornados, hurricans, or other disasters
    • Special Circumstances apply

    • Must be verified by TANF admin.
    • Proof of work (minimum of 25 hours

    Assistance with prescription medications      
    • Life-sustaining medications
    • Antibiotics
    • NO pain medications or over the counter medications
