"Friday 29th"

To begin the activities to celebrate the anniversary, there was a Thanksgiving Meeting. There were special guests of different denominations who are close to us: Methodist Pentecostal Church, National Evangelical Mission, G.O.E.S Group, Rehabilitation Center “New Life”, representatives of Bishopric of Valparaíso and invited pastors.

The meeting was very blessed, the hall was completely full; there were beautiful moments of praise, in which we could appreciate its diversity in the different denominations, and, at the same time, the unity to have the same God.

At the moment of testimonies, we could be blessed when hearing Lieutenant Colonel Alicia de Garrido remember when, many years ago, she was converted to the Gospel for the preaching of old soldiers of this Corps.

The message of the Word of God was preached by Captain José Saavedra, Director of Men’s Home in Valparaíso. It was a message full of the power of God, urging us to do the work we were saved for; the Lord talked to our lives.

"Saturday 30th"
Testimony March
This was the most waited of all the days. This was the opportunity to testify publicly that Salvation Army is still alive in Valparaíso and to proclaim the Saving Mesasage of Jesus our Lord.

The neccesary procedures were made and we got permission to do a Testimony Parade in Pedro Montt Avenue (Main Avenue in Valparaíso). A little bit passed four o’clock, we began to march to Italia Park, and then we came back to Victoria Square to have an Open Air and Concert in that place.

The march was leaded, of course, by the Salvationist Flag; behind it, the Band; after them, Timbrel Brigades, Adult, Home League and Junior Brigades; then, Sunday School children and finally the adults of the church, in total, we were 96 persons marching.

When coming to the square, we could show in a life way what the Lord has made in us. Band did it through music inspired by the Lord, Timbrel Brigade, with choreographies that are so traditional in the Salvation Army and, of course, the Word of God was preached, an invitation to attend Church was made to all the persons who were present in that meeting.

Familiar Evening.
After that, and with the joy still in our hearts, we went back to the Corps (Temple) to continue celebrating, at six o’clock a Familiar Evening began. This event was programmed to enjoy a comradeship moment; families could praise the Lord with special numbers; there were songs, soloes, a duet and a quintet in Brass instruments, dances, and a timbrel number.

We also shared a cup of tea and, like in every birthday, the cake couldn’t be absent. It was a day of much job, but of much satisfaction and blessing too.

"Sunday 31st"

This day we had the presence of three special guests: Divisional Commanders, Majors Moya, and the Chieff Secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Susan Mc Millan, they were with us in all the activities of the day.

At nine o’clock, Holiness Meeting began. It was a meeting in which the Lord, through the Word of God preached by the Divisional Commander, made us remember that we always must be sheeps with our shepperd Jesus:

After 10:30 Hrs. we went to the street again, this time to the neighbouring places of our Temple, where we are known, to give an invitation to participate to the closing activities of the anniversary and to know the power transformer of lives of our Lord. Some brothers and sisters testified and encouraged the pedestrians to give their lives to Christ, the Word of God was also preached.

At 11:30 Hrs. it was the turn of children, Sunday School couldn’t be absent of the celebration and they had a special program to celebrate. There were prayers, praises, games, a Biblic text, a lecture by the adult class (“Love”), special numbers by Junior Band and Timbrel Brigade and a Class Competence; our special guests participated too: Lieutenant Colonel Susan Mc Millan adressed some words to greet children and adults and Major Cecilia de Moya had the lesson. It was a meeting of great joy and blessing.

One hour before the usual time, at five o’clock, the last activity of the 61st anniversary of Playa Ancha Corps began; it was a very special meeting, the Web Site of Playa Ancha Corps was publicly introduced and the persons who hadn’t visited it, could see it for the first time.

We also had joy for the enrollment of two new recruits (persons who are prepared to be members of the Church), the young lady, Makarena Mondaca and Mr. Jorge Ibacache, wife of the Director of Sunday School, Catalina Montenegro, God bless our Recruits! Finally, our Cheff Secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Susan Mc Millan, preached the Message of God. Her message was simple but powerful, Christ is the Saviour of our lives.

We thank God for our 61st Anniversary...
God bless Playa Ancha Corps!
God bless The Salvation Army!
