Fifteen ladies who attend the weekly Craft and Friendship Group at Bangor Salvation Army are now internet and e-mail savvy after completing a ten week computer class!
Run by WEA through The Learning Age Project, the ladies embraced the opportunity to become computer iterate through a ten week course held in the computer room at Bangor Library. The Learning Age Project is funded for five years and aims to engage with 5,000 older people in classes which meet their needs from computers, arts and crafts, personal development and reminiscence.
Andriee Todd finds Joy in the Salvation Army
" I had been attending the Salvation Army Sunday morning meetings for several years, when one day an elderly gentleman gave my friend Grace (who sits beside me on Sundays) an adherent brooch. I was interested and she explained about it and informed me she was an adherent.
I thought I'd like to be one also and prayed about it. Then one day a friend from my sewing circle handed me a little brooch, it was an adherent pin. I admired it and went to return it but she said her sister had recently passed away and that she had been an adherent and also that she was giving me the little pin!.
I knew that my prayer was answered and felt that God was guiding me to accept. Needless to say I received my adherent certificate this morning in the meeting.
Praise GOD! I"m delighted to belong to the Salvation Army."
