We are a group of Salvation Army bandsmen & women who meet on a fortnightly basis to play music and share Christian fellowship. Our activities include Brass Band visits to Salvation Army Corps, Churches & Over 60's clubs with a particular emphasis on helping smaller Salvation Army Corps.
The average age of the Band currently stands at approximately 73 years!
The attendance averages 98% throughout the year, which in itself is a testimony to the commitment and enthusiasm of the membership. Our mission statement is 'To extend the Kingdom and be a role model for the younger generation.'
Our members travel from all over East Anglia to meet for rehersals every two weeks and also for any events or concerts that we have arranged. We are members of the Anglia Division in the UK territory of the Salvation Army.
The Anglia Fellowship Band was formed in 1997 by former Bandmaster Bram Scott. The original intention of the group was to allow a few retired bandsmen to have the opportunity to meet to play music and share fellowship. The news of the group's activities soon spread and the numbers started to increase. With such an increase, a band was formed still with the initial intention of enjoying each other's musical company.
Within a short period of time, the band had a complement of 25 players able to cope with a good repertoire of Salvation Army music. One of the original aims was to dust the covers off some long forgotten Salvation Army gems.
The band has now grown to a number of 35!
We now serve as a Divisional Band and are involved in a varied programme throughout the region.
When the band was originally formed by Bram Scott, it was called the Anglia Golden Oldies. This name was based around the idea of playing some of the Salvation Army's older music. During 2007 the name of the band was changed to the Anglia Fellowship Band. Following ten years of hard work and commitment, Bram passed the leadership of the band into the very capable hands of Bandmaster Ray Todd.
